Nalanda
Nalanda is one of the most historically significant sites in India and a symbol of ancient knowledge and learning. Located in Bihar, Nalanda is famous for the ancient Nalanda University, one of the world’s first residential universities, which flourished between the 5th and 12th centuries. It attracted scholars and students from countries like China, Korea, Japan, Tibet, and Southeast Asia. Nalanda is deeply connected with Buddhism and was a major center for Buddhist education, philosophy, and meditation. The ruins of Nalanda University, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, reflect India’s glorious academic past and continue to inspire visitors from across the world.
